Movie Help Web Popcorn Kernels:

This is a quiet tale about a rural family dealing with personal problems spiced up with mysterious sci-fi circumstances. Gibson plays a priest who has lost both his wife and his faith, trying to raise his two children with the help of his brother (Phoenix). Their quiet life is interrupted first by strange crop circles in their yard, but this strange event is followed by sightings of strange 'people' and other alarming things that all point to something very bad for Earth. In the meantime our hero must deal with more mundane human problems, as well as search within himself for some answers.

I liked this one. It was fairly slow, but with a few exciting moments. The characters are carefully drawn and portrayed well, and the plot moves along and, as expected from this director, has a few twists and turns near the end. Director Shyamalan also plays a key role as a secondary character, one with links to our hero's past. I must admit that I didn't exactly like the ending. I felt that the alien plot was a bit too obvious. I would have liked it to be more in the background, with the changes in the main character more center stage. That, of course, is the point of the movie: faith, and will he regain it?

But that is a small blot. I can definitely recommend this movie.
