Movie Help Web Popcorn Kernels:

A screenplay based on a book, but based on a screenplay of a real life (of the main character). Uh- yeah, this one is slightly confusing. But, as the story is suppose to be about a flower, what else can you do to make it exciting?

That haunts writer Charlie Kaufman (Cage), a nervous, stammering, rather shy intelligent man who is trying to take a book and make it into a movie. The book, "The Orchid Thief", was written by Susan Orlean (Streep). It's about a rare flower, and her journey in both finding it and finding herself. The plot follows Charlie as he tries to craft a screenplay, as he wrestles with himself and his ideas.

He is helped by his twin brother, Donald (also played by Cage). The first time, you look for the camera trick. But after that, it doesn't matter and you simply take in the twins. That is the genius of Cage. He doesn't change anything but his clothes, no makeup difference between the two at all, but they both are two distinct personalities. As Charlie delves more deeply into the book, he becomes more and more obsessed, both with Susan and the man who helped her find the flower, John Laroche (Cooper). Donald, who hero worships his brother, is pulled into the whole thing.

Confusing, sprawling, scattered, brilliant, true to life. this plot cannot be truly condensed into mere words. I'd say this one is definitely worth a look-see, both for how it deals with the plot within a plot, and the strong and perfect acting of Cage.
