JET LI
Born April 26, 1963 - Beijing, China
Perhaps the second best known Asian martial arts star in the United States after Jackie Chan, he began his Wu Shu training at the age of 9.
At age 11, he won his first gold medal, and by the time he turned 20 he had earned 4 more. An interesting bit of trivia: when he won his first medal, his prize was to be flown to the United States and to meet President Richard Nixon.
He starred in a few films before moving to Hong Kong, where he was perhaps the biggest kung-fu star throughout the '90s.
He was originally cast the lead role in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, but turned it down in order to act in the movie Romeo Must Die.
Personal Quote: "I can feel very brave through all the action scenes in front of the people who are on the set, but when a girl comes close to me my face turns red because I'm so shy."
