Mel Gibson
Born January 3, 1956 - Peekskill, New York
This talented 'Everyman' actor was born in the USA but moved back to Australia as a child. He studied at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, and performed in a number of stage and TV shows before and after college. What brought him to American attention was his lead role in Mad Max, but he is best known for his loopy cop in the Lethal Weapon series.
He never drinks, owns a production company with offices in the USA, UK, and Australia, and for his religious epic The Passion of The Christ, spent an estimated 25 million dollars of his own money -- funds he earned back many times over when Passion became one of the biggest box-office surprises in cinema history.
Personal Quote: "You can't live up to what people expect. Nobody can. But I guess that's my problem, not theirs."
