Actor Roy Scheider died yesterday afternoon of complications from a staph infection. His film and theater career spanned four decades, but he was best known as the shark hunter from 1975's Jaws and its sequel. But he also had a well-received role in Klute and earned Acadeny Award nominations for his parts in The French Connection and All That Jazz. Scheider was 75.
